A Locally Grown Mothers Day

What an adventure the beginning of this year has been. With the COVID-19 pandemic- we haven’t been able to visit our farmers the way we'd like too, but we have been working behind the scenes on a some exciting things. Before we get to that, a special day is coming and what better way to do ISO Mother's Day than with CommuniFood.

In the spirit of Mothers Day, what a FABULOUS time of year to thank our mothers, grandmothers, aunties, sisters and all things woman for all they do for us. One of the most important ‘mothers’ out there is our Earth and doesn’t she do a pretty good job of looking after us all. With some retail outlets still closed and the post experiencing delays, Mother’s day in isolation can prove difficult to send Mum those flowers, that gift or even the limit on the number of visitors allowed.

Don’t worry, we have ideas! With a lot of the local restaurants, local farmers and providers offering BOXES of mixed vegetables (some organic/some not), fruits, make at home meals restaurant style and wine offered either contactless pick up or DELIVERY, why not send Mum a box of goodies that you know will get put to good use?

Phoenix Park Farm is offering a beautiful box of ORGANIC vegetables delivery (within a radius) for $40 you are adorned with some amazing vegetables, beets, broccoli, radish, lettuce and have the option too add on relishes, butters and other goodies to ‘jazz’ up the box. Contact Phoenix Park Farm for more by clicking here.

The family farm of MC – Sl Dennis has been producing boxes of tasty vegetables throughout the lock down period. Taking every precaution for your safety and health whilst delivering the goods. Their coloured cauliflower is a fun mix and the quality of vegetables is hard to beat. To place your order (weekly limits) click here!

Little Tin Shed at Medowie- not only do these guys have pre-ordered vegetable boxes for pick up, they are the masters of the Mothers Day Flower Haul! Their cauliflowers are some of the biggest I have ever seen, they have a good selection of fruit and veg and you can’t go past some of Nan’s Relish! Click here for more information on how to order and pick up!

For our Newcastle CommuniFoodies- Vivian Fenech and Family have an INCREDIBLE amount of yummy fruits and vegetables all at a reasonable price! For just $40 you can order a Soup Box or Salad Box, Vegetable Box, Fruit Box or Mixed Box, all filled with a really good diverse range of items that will stock the staples and also leave some room for new flavours! Pick up for these boxes is in Sandgate and you can order by getting in contact with Vivian herself by clicking here.

If wine and cheese is more mums style, or restaurant style meals her flavour, Boydells at Morpeth have the ultimate boxes for that special Mum. For just $85 Boydells is offering a bottle of award winning wine (their sparking Verdelho or Pinot Noir is to die for) , their ploughman's platter and a house made chocolate gâteau with chantilly cream & cointreau strawberries ALL DELIVERED! And when you didn’t think it could get any better they are including a bunch of posies! Limited number available so call the team on 49335862 to secure your order or check them out online by clicking here.

With so many more to mention, we will let you ponder on these options before we fill your feed with more. What a great way to support local businesses, producers and farmers whilst spoiling Mum this Mothers Day.

Until next time,
